Mantle Bridge: Move ETH and Tokens Between Ethereum and Mantle

Mantle Bridge moves ETH and supported tokens between Ethereum and Mantle Network. Mantle is a Layer 2, a network that processes transactions at lower cost while settling them through Ethereum. To bridge Ethereum to Mantle, use the Mantle Bridge to transfer ETH, MNT, or another supported token.

How Does Mantle Bridge Move Your Tokens?

A deposit places your asset in a bridge contract on Ethereum and credits its matching form on Mantle. A bridge contract is code that holds and releases assets under set rules. Your wallet can use the same address on both networks, but each network shows its own balance.

To move an asset back, you start a withdrawal on Mantle. The Mantle balance is removed, and Ethereum releases the backing asset after verifying the withdrawal. This takes longer than a deposit because Ethereum must receive and check proof of what happened on Mantle.

What Do You Need to Make a Transfer?

You need a wallet that can connect to both networks and enough of the asset on your starting network. Choose Ethereum to Mantle for a deposit, or Mantle to Ethereum for a withdrawal. Select the asset and amount, then review the transaction in your wallet before confirming.

Some tokens require an approval first. That gives the bridge contract permission to use a set amount; approval alone does not transfer it. You must then confirm the bridge transaction separately. Each transaction may have its own network fee, called gas.

What if you deposit 0.10 ETH? You receive the corresponding ETH holding on Mantle, subject to any transfer costs. You do not receive MNT. That matters because MNT pays for transactions you later make on Mantle.

What Else Should You Check Before Sending?

Check the available token, expected time, and gas needed on each network. These details can differ between a deposit and a withdrawal.

Which tokens can I transfer?

You can transfer ETH, MNT, and other tokens supported for your chosen direction. Many other assets use the ERC-20 standard, a common set of rules for Ethereum tokens. Check the available token before sending: holding an asset in your wallet does not mean the bridge supports that exact asset on both networks.

Why is my transfer taking so long?

Ethereum confirmation can delay a deposit, which often takes a few minutes. A withdrawal can take hours while Ethereum verifies proof of the Mantle transaction. Mantle’s current proof system does not require the older seven-day challenge period. Check the transfer’s status; a withdrawal may also need a final claim on Ethereum.

Is the bridge safe to use?

Bridge contracts and mistaken transfers carry risk. Check the networks, token, amount, and receiving address before signing, and confirm you are using the intended site. Never enter your wallet’s recovery phrase. For a large amount, a small trial transfer can confirm that the asset arrives where you expect.

Do I need ETH to pay fees?

Yes, when you make a transaction on Ethereum. Keep ETH there for a deposit, any required token approval, and a final withdrawal claim. Transactions on Mantle use MNT for gas instead. Gas costs change with network activity, so read your wallet’s fee estimate before each confirmation.

Start by choosing your transfer direction and checking that your token is supported. Then make sure you have the gas token needed on the starting network.
